about

We live in a messed up world, confusing at times, seemingly hopeless, but it’s a world that has both darkness and light. Sadly, the darkness isn’t a new thing. But then again, neither is the light.

When you first read the lyrics to this song, it may seem like there is little or no hope. You might feel like you are too small to make any change for the better. But, I don’t want the song to stick in your head to become an anthem of despair. I love how it changes to the major in the key at the end. There’s a little bit of lightness and hope in the final chords, a hint of redemption.

I once heard that forgiveness is not as much for the person being forgiven but for the one doing the forgiving. On top of that, it doesn’t depend upon the wrongdoer being worthy of it. Anger and bitterness is like a festering wound. Left untreated, it can lead to larger issues for which there is no cure.

lyrics

Don’t really get what’s going on
The hate, the fear, the turmoil
I only know a broken heart
And see the blood that soaks the soil

Push the button
Why not push the button
If we’re gonna live like this
Push the button
Why not push the button
Might as well get it over with

I hear you trying to explain
The time, the lies, the pain
It’s not a distant, artless game
It’s not a face without a name

Push the button
Why not push the button
If we’re gonna live like this
Push the button
Why not push the button
Might as well get it over with

Push the button
Why not push the button
If we’re gonna live like this
Push the button
Why not push the button
Might as well get it over with

Will we ever learn from our mistakes
Or will we carry them, carry them
Tomorrow is another day
But what about, what about
Will we ever learn from our mistakes
Or will we carry them to our graves
Tomorrow is another day

But what about today
But what about today
